Lund University maintains Top 100 position

Lund University has once again maintained its position as one of the world’s top 100 universities, with a ranking of 86th in the latest 2011/12 QS World University Rankings. The latest world rankings were released by QS this week.
Lund University is also ranked highly in a number of subject specific areas as part of the QS World University Rankings by subject 2011 - a new set of rankings that have been gradually released over the past few months.
Specifically Lund is ranked as one of the top 50 or top 100 universities in the following subject areas:
- Top 50 university: 39th in environmental sciences
- Top 50 university: 39th in geography and area studies
- Top 50 university: 43rd = in civil and structural engineering
- Top 100 university: 51-100 for chemical engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing
- Top 100 university: 51-100 bracket for medicine and biological science
- Top 100 university: 51-100 bracket for sociology, politics and international studies, law and economics
Last month the Academic Ranking of World Universities was released. Lund University is ranked in the top 100-150 universities and is ranked as one of the top 100 world universities for the following subject areas:
- Top 100 university: 51-75 bracket for life and agricultural sciences
- Top 100 university: 76-100 bracket for engineering/technology
The other major university rankings, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011/12, are expected to be released in early October. Last year Lund University was ranked as the top full-scale university in Scandinavia and placed 89th in the world university rankings.
