Shut up and Write!
This is not a course, but a concept that turns writing from a solitary to a social experience. The aim is to help all participants establish habits that make writing both productive and enjoyable.
Structure
The concept is based on meeting regularly to write. In each meeting, periods of focused writing (“writing snacks”) are alternated with short breaks. You can work on anything, as long as you write. It could be an outline, a section of an article, organizing your notes, transcription, a presentation, or making revisions and editing. The only rule is to show up on time and be silent when everybody else is.
You will set a goal before each snack – for example to write a certain number of words – and then evaluate the turnout afterwards. This will help you develop a sense of what you can expect to produce in a certain time. You don’t have to share your text with others, this is something that you do to develop your own writing habits.
The aim is that you should experience
- increased focus
- increased productivity
- reduced isolation in your writing
- an ability to maintain a routine for scheduled writing outside the group
Admission
No registration is needed, just show up. No course credits are given.
Language
The meetings are held in English, but you can write in any language.
