Teaching, Learning and Supervision in Higher Education for Adjunct Professors
This course is part of the qualifying program in teaching and learning in higher education at LTH. It is a boiled down adapted version of LTHs overview courses intended exclusively for adjunct LTH professors who mainly are professionally active in business, industry or public workplaces outside the higher education sector. The course is exclusively provided for adjunct professors who work or will work up to 20% of their time at LTH.
The course revolves around scholarly approaches and reasoning in relation to pedagogical tasks conducted by adjunct professors at LTH, in order to support sound decision-making in teaching and supervision. This includes elements of current national and local educational policies. The course also aims to include adjunct professors in current teaching and learning discourses and initiatives of university teachers at LTH and in the use of LTH-specific educational structures (for example the course evaluation system). Educational issues of effective specialist knowledge transfer from the adjunct professors to the LTH students is a key element of the course.
The course is given in Swedish or English depending on who signs up, and has an expected low number of participants. It starts with two meetings where basic concepts of teaching and supervision in higher education are introduced, along with the educational strategies of the faculty. The course is assessed with written and defended participant accounts of scholarly underpinned analyses of teaching and supervision design developments. A course web platform is used to facilitate remote course participant activities.
The course is exclusively given to adjunct professors at LTH, or persons who soon will become adjunct professors. All eligible participants are accepted.
The course corresponds to 1 week of full-time work.
