The IPCC is clear: human-driven climate change is already having a major impact on extreme weather, ecosystems, and people’s health and livelihoods worldwide. The good news? There are plenty of mitigation and adaptation strategies available across all kinds of systems. The challenge is breaking down the barriers—so how do we scale up what already works and innovate to go even further?

The conference will be a hybrid event and organized by the central Research Board and Sustainability Forum at Lund University, in collaboration with Cambridge Zero at the University of Cambridge.

With this year’s title Breaking barriers to climate solutions, the conference aim to encourage dialogue and knowledge sharing between the two Universities. What can we learn from each other's practices? What are the current findings, what should be discussed further and what are the possible solutions to some of the biggest barriers of our time?

The program will address key themes, including energy transition, biodiversity and climate and adaptation, loss and damage.

Speakers at the conference include LTH researchers:

  • Lars J Nilsson, professor of Environmental and Energy Systems Studies
  • Elna Heimdal Nilsson, professor of Aeronautical Sciences
  • Per Becker, professor in Risk Management and Societal Safety
