Capacity development and global engagement

Lund University and the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) have more than 20 years of experience in designing and delivering international capacity development programmes and professional education, including in partnership with the Swedish Institute (SI) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

LTH’s programmes combine research-based knowledge with practical and applied approaches. A central focus is building long-term collaboration between academia, the public sector and civil society, both in Sweden and internationally.

Over the years, these programmes have contributed to tangible change at local, regional and national levels. Examples include new and strengthened road safety legislation, policies and institutional structures in countries across Africa and Asia – from mandatory helmet and seat-belt legislation to lower speed limits around schools and the establishment of new institutions for driver training.
