German design award for LTH students
Lund University School of Industrial Design was recently honored with a prestigious award at the DMY International Design Festival in Berlin. The award was given in the education category, for four different projects; a bike workshop initiative, a Geiger counter, some LED solutions and Snego building blocks.

– The jury justified its decision by emphasizing the successful coherent presentation of a school and its diversity in teaching industrial design, from craft-like projects to research-based innovation – and of course the quality in content and execution of the projects, says Claus-Christian Eckhardt, professor in Industrial Design at LTH.
About 25 students from LTH participated on site in Berlin. In total, more than 700 exhibitors and 15 different universities participated. In the Universities & Schools section of the festival, research work and projects were exhibited, often with an experimental character as they do not necessarily have to comply with the normal rules of the market. As the icing on the cake, participating universities also have the possibility to exchange information and enter cooperation with other internationally renowned education institutions.
– The School of Industrial Design is participating since many years at the DMY – especially with results from our master course projects to exhibit and discuss them on an international platform – several other Swedish design educations like Konstfack participated over the years, too. We received the DMY award already in 2012 for the best presentation of a design school and exhibited the awarded projects later in the famous Bauhaus Archiv in Berlin, says Claus-Christian Eckhardt.
