A happy new year, together!

As 2021 begins, LTH’s new management team is ready to realise the vision “together we explore and create – to benefit the world”, by defining our strategic orientation and starting LTH’s development towards new goals. Together with the units, we will make LTH even better, more distinct and more visible, writes LTH’s new dean Annika Olsson.

The new LTH management is now in place to continue the development of LTH with me as dean with special responsibility for external engagement and Heiner Linke as deputy dean with special responsibility for matters relating to research and LTH’s development at Brunnshög. We are pleased to complement the management team with the vice deans:

  • Maria Johansson, who has special responsibility for sustainable campus development
  • Kristofer Modig, who has special responsibility for first and second cycle studies
  • Martin Tunér, who has special responsibility for third cycle studies

As 2021 begins, LTH’s new management team is ready to realise the vision “together we explore and create – to benefit the world”, by defining our strategic orientation and starting LTH’s development towards new goals and, together with the units, making LTH even better, more distinct and more visible.

Together we will continue to work based on all the areas in the strategic plan, focusing on the further development of LTH. The management team is, for example, eager to address matters relating to the increased encouragement and building of strong interdisciplinary research environments in collaboration with strategic partners in wider society.

Due to the work carried out in the RQ20 quality evaluation, there is a very good foundation for focused development work within research. LTH will also develop first and second cycle courses and programmes to obtain the highest quality and relevance and to welcome many new students from all over the world. We will focus in particular on sustainable campus development and ensure that our faculty stands for diversity, equal treatment and a good work environment in which everyone thrives.

There are exciting times ahead of us. This applies for example to future campus development, for which we have already decided on an orientation or vision for LTH’s establishment of activities at Brunnshög and a good basis for work on sustainable campuses in Lund and Helsingborg. The LTH management wants transparency, inclusion and clarity to be key concepts in this work, and we hope that many people will want to get involved and contribute their expertise and ideas.

The Covid-19 pandemic made LTH switch large parts of its activities to a digital form – and during this period our students and staff have truly shown creativity and the ability to rapidly explore new avenues.

At LTH we feel it is important in the middle of this transition to continue conducting research and education of high quality.

In LTH’s management we are grateful to all of those who, under the prevailing restrictions – necessary if we are to help reduce the spread of infection – continue to contribute to LTH’s education, research and external engagement.

The adaptations implemented by LTH’s different units over the past year have been impressive, and it demonstrates a solution-focused spirit that is auspicious for when we are to continue to develop LTH together.

This year marks LTH’s 60th anniversary. The new management is curious about the challenges and issues that we face, and we think it will be enjoyable to tackle them with you in 2021!
