PhD/Third cycle courses

Courses and course syllabi are established in the FUD system (applies to all of LTH and IIIEE).

After establishing in FUD, you create course instances (kurstillfällen) in Ladok.

It is optional to create course occasion instances in the FUD system, which allows you to provide additional information about the course than what can be entered in Ladok. Note that the course instance dates entered in both Ladok and FUD systems must be identical.

You can also join the “LTH utbildningsadministration” team on LU Teams. Go to Teams, click on the “Teams” icon; at the very bottom of the list of your teams, you will find the link “View all your teams” – click on it. Then click the down arrow to the right of “Create new team” in the top right-hand corner, click “Join team” and search for “LTH utbildningsadministration” in the search box on the left. You can then join the team.

The first choise is that a course should be established at research level in accordance with the instructions on this page (see above), and the doctoral student is then admitted in the usual manner applicable to doctoral courses.

Doctoral students who are to take these courses are subsequently admitted by the student’s department in accordance with the Ladok Group’s manuals. For non-LU doctoral students, the ‘special permission’ form is used, which is also available from the Ladok Group (see the forms in the right-hand column).

If only a few doctoral students are involved, the following applies:

• If the doctoral student is admitted to doctoral studies at LTH and LU, the doctoral student’s department must enter this into Ladok as an individual commitment ("individuellt åtagande"). If the doctoral student is admitted to a department other than the one offering the course, a certificate or contact between the course examiner and the doctoral student’s supervisor will likely be required.
• If the doctoral student is enrolled in a doctoral programme at an institution other than LU, the instructions for non-LU doctoral students must be followed.
