Every year LTH publishes about 100 doctoral theses and 1,700 research findings that pave the way for scientific discoveries and new innovations improving society. Within research there are nine areas with special, interdisciplinary excellence: aerosols, AI and digitalization, circular building industry, energy transition, food and biotechnology, nanoscience, photon science, technology for health and water.

At LTH there is scope for brilliant research and inspiration for the creative development of technology, architecture, and design. Over 1,000 researchers at LTH are working hard to create good living conditions for people and promote more careful use of the Earth’s resources.

LTH has a part in world-unique infrastructure in the MAX IV facility and proximity to European Spallation Source (ESS). An interdisciplinary ecosystem is emerging around these facilities, with LTH and Lund University as a driving force.

LTH has a central location in the Öresund region, the Nordic region's largest transnational co-operation area in terms of population. There are close to four million inhabitants, prominent universities and colleges and a great demand for education, research, and innovation.
