Welcome to this interdisciplinary research conference on the theme "Breaking barriers to climate solutions". The conference aims to encourage knowledge sharing and dialogue between Lund University and the University of Cambridge.

Air was on the agenda during Aerosol’s full day with the profile area. Air pollution, air environment in the workplace and atmospheric aerosols were some of the topics covered. The annual meeting – the third since the profile area started its work – attracted around seventy participants.

The winter season virus has struck – and COVID-19 is still part of everyday life. But unlike during the pandemic, we now know more about how the virus is spread through the air we breathe. Research results from Lund University show that it only takes a few minutes in the same room as an infected person to catch the virus.

It was a successful year for the funding of aerosols research at Lund University, with grants of different scope and a diverse range of topics. The list below is a selection of awards.

Adam Kristensson, senior lecturer at Combustion Physics and member of the profile areas Aerosols and Energy Transition, has been awarded the 2024 NOSA Aerosologist Award. The award is given for his excellent contribution to aerosol research and as an active promotor for aerosol science as both a previous NOSA board member, but also within ACTRIS.

The profile area Aerosols focuses on strengthening its community and on promoting a better understanding of the members’ activities. As a part of this initiative, the profile area has arranged a day trip to Lund University's School of Aviation in Ljungbyhed and the ACTRIS measurement site Hyltemossa.

A discussion on semiconductors was on the agenda in Almedalen. The dialogue, hosted by LTH at Lund University, addressed how Sweden can contribute to the efforts being made in Europe. One of the conclusions of the discussion was "the crisper the proposal – the more policy influence".
