After completing your degree at advanced level you have the option to apply for PhD studies at Lund University as an alternative to seeking employment in industry or society. You can also undertake PhD studies after working in industry for a time, or in combination with a career in industry, either as an employed PhD student or as a PhD student in industry. With the increasing demands for high-level skills that arise with tougher international competition, PhD studies become more attractive, especially for the more knowledge-intensive parts of the business sector, for example, pharmaceutical and consultancy companies. Likewise, a career in academia, whether nationally or internationally, is an exciting challenge.
The aim is to admit those students who will be most successful in their studies. The studies are demanding but the experience is also very motivating and rewarding.
Over recent years, PhD studies at the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) have been developed and modernised in order to better meet modern demands. Through PhD studies at LTH, students gain both broad and specialised knowledge within their field. In addition, opportunities are provided to work with project management and to develop teaching and leadership skills in a broad sense. International experience is becoming more and more important. Studies can lead to either a licentiate degree or a PhD.
We look forward to welcoming you as a PhD student at LTH!
