It's time to sum up the past year here at LTH, and therefore I would like to thank the alumni and all of LTH’s important partners!
A lot has happened at LTH during the past year.
LTH began the year with a balanced and gradual return – from pandemic to full speed on campus in early spring 2022. We developed seven LTH Profile Areas as a rallying point around the faculty's strong and interdisciplinary research, to contribute even more effectively to solutions for the good of society and to create clear opportunities for collaboration with our partners.
We continued work on plans for Lund University’s establishment in the Science Village – and here we still hope for more support from external funders to ensure that we really succeed in the establishment and that society gets the best out of Max IV, ESS and the new nanolab in Lund – Nanolab Science Village.
At LTH, we have admitted students to new degree programmes, and we have been pleased to see several LTH researchers receive very prestigious awards and prizes.
We have established a new centre of excellence with cutting-edge research on bio-based aviation fuels, and inaugurated the Centre for Sustainable Business Development in collaboration with the School of Economics and Management and Sparbanken Skåne.
This and many other great things have happened at LTH during the past year.
At the same time, we are constantly reminded of major challenges in our local area and in the world around us, such as the climate crisis, war, and threats to democracy. At this time, it therefore feels particularly urgent for LTH to be involved in various social challenges.
Spending your working days at LTH means meeting a great many knowledgeable, committed, and enterprising problem solvers. Here, hope for the future is created thanks to our students, teachers, researchers, and partners who ensure that together we can explore and create for the benefit of the world.
I hope that our paths will cross in the upcoming year, during events or in collaborative projects.
And now, on behalf of LTH, I would like to wish you all:
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
