How to connect to the Student server

Attention!: The easiest way to access the "Student-server"-folders is to log in on a student Lab-computer. The instructions below is for connecting from any other computer.

Each institution has its own catalog. If your department is missing a catalog, please email servicedesk@lu.se and we can create one.

To have the right to make changes to your own institution's directory, you must log in to the student computers / connect to the folder with your own account .

Here is a brief instruction on how to connect as a teacher to the common folders that exist in the student environment.

• There are two different "folders" you may want to link to ( more info here ):
   1. "Shared", for example, "Courses" is located.
   2. "Temp", the folder where all students and employees can write and edit in without any security ...
• When you connect to these folders, you can use two different accounts
  1. "uw\LucatID" All employees can log in with this account. It is with this account that you get the right to write in your departments subfolder in "Courses".
  2. "Student\LucatID", This is the account in the student domain that teachers can get on request (see this page). This account only has read permissions in "Courses", ie it works just like a student account.
• Connection as shown below only works when connected to the LU network, or via VPN .

How to connect from Windows

1. If you are at home or elsewhere outside the LU network, you need to first connect via VPN . Then proceed as below.
2. Open a window in Explorer.
3. Select "Connect Network Device ...": You can either find it in the "Computer" menu or by right-clicking "My Computer".
4. To connect to the shared folders; enter one of the following lines in the box "Folder" \\stu.net.lth.se\shared \\stu.net.lth.se\temp
5. Make sure that "Reconnect at Login" and "Connect with Other Authentication Information" is selected.
6. Click "Finish"
7. In the login box; Type " uw\LucatID" or (normally there is no reason to use the following login) "student\LucatID" as above.
8. It may be useful to check the box "Remember my login details".
9. Click "OK"
10. Click "Finish"
11. Now you must be connected to the respective network folder.

How to connect from Mac OS X

See the linked movie below and use the following addresses instead of what's featured in the movie:

Note: Use slash "/" instead of backslash "\" when connecting from a Mac!

Läs detta först!: Ni kan alltid komma åt mapparna på studentservern genom att logga in på en dator i datorsalarna. De instruktioner som följer nedan är till för att ni skall kunna ansluta från annan dator.

Katalog-rättigheter under "stu.net.lth.se\shared\Courses" 

Varje institution har sin egen katalog. Om din institution saknar katalog, maila till support@lth.se så kan vi skapa en.

För att kunna göra ändringar i sin egen institutions katalog så krävs att man loggar in på studentdatorerna/ansluter till mappen med sitt uw-konto.

Att ansluta från extern dator till de gemensamma mappar som finns i student-miljön.

• Det finns två olika "mappar" ni kan vilja koppla upp mot: 
  1. "Shared", där till exempel "Courses" ligger.
  2. "Temp", den mapp där alla studenter och anställda kan skriva och redigera i utan någon säkerhet...
• När ni ansluter till dessa mappar kan ni använda två olika konton: 
  1. "uw\LucatID" Alla anställda kan koppla upp med detta konto. Det är med detta konto ni får skrivrätt i er institutions undermapp i "Courses".
  2. "student\LucatID", Detta är kontot i studentdomänen som lärare kan få på begäran (se denna sida). Detta konto har bara läsrättigheter i "Courses", dvs det fungerar precis som ett studentkonto.
• Anslutning enligt nedan fungerar bara när man är uppkopplad på LU:s nätverk, eller via VPN.

1. Om du sitter hemma eller någon annanstans utanför LU:s nät, så behöver du först koppla upp dig via VPN. Fortsätt sedan enligt nedan.
2. Öppna ett fönster i Utforskaren.
3. Välj "Anslut nätverksenhet...": Du hittar det antingen i menyn "Dator" eller genom att högerklicka på "Den här datorn".
4. För att ansluta till de gemensamma mapparna; skriv in en av följande rader i rutan "Mapp"
   \\stu.net.lth.se\shared
   \\stu.net.lth.se\temp
5. Se till att "Återanslut vid inloggning" och "Anslut med andra autentiseringsuppgifter" är valt.
6. Klicka "Slutför"
7. I inloggningsrutan; Skriv "uw\LucatID" eller "student\LucatID" enligt ovan.
8. Det kan vara praktiskt att bocka för rutan "Kom ihåg mina inloggningsuppgifter".
9. Klicka "OK" 
10. Klicka "Slutför" 
11. Nu skall du vara ansluten till respektive nätmapp.
