PARASITE5
A parasite is something that exists by taking from or depending on another. For my master thesis I have explored the nature through the eyes of a designer and found inspiration for a product line of parasites.
The motion parasite, steam parasite, radiation parasite, waste parasite and water parasite are five products for the home that use unused recourses in our surrounding.
The motion parasite uses piezoelectric materials to capture the energy from our movements. Here visualized as a carpet that, when walked on, lights up a lamp.
The steam parasite uses the steam from the shower to refresh and straighten your clothes, no need to wash or iron.
The radiation parasite is using the signals from all new electronic devices such as mobile phones as a resource. The radiation in the air is transformed to a unique melody using special software.
The waste parasite is discreetly attached to you kitchen table and after eaten you easily pull out the waste parasite and wipe down crumbs and other leftovers. After a couple of days you can take the parasite and hang it outside your window and let the birds dine on your waste.
The water parasite uses the water from your dishes that today go to waste. The water is used to keep your fresh spices alive. It functions as a dish rack and herb pot.
