HARLEKIN
New ways of living and an increased appreciation for eating and socializing outdoors demands easier ways of extending our living space to the garden and nature. In this diploma project I have tried to develop
a quick setup solution, providing the user with shelter for eating, reading, living or working close to the elements, but with protection from sun, wind and rain.
Harlekin is a modular tent that grows with your needs, using a simple construction of self-supporting fabric elements that, zipped together, form smaller or larger spaces.
The plain construction of each element makes the tent easy and quick to pitch. The zipper connections give the user chance to rotate the walls and the roof, thereby altering the position of the windows and changing the appearance of the tent.
The minimum setup, consisting of four elements, creates a space with enough room for a dinner for six. Adding three elements doubles the space, and the opportunities.
