Research Program

The research activities in CECOST span from generic, more fundamental activities in terms of development of measurement techniques and simulation models, via studies of specific phenomena to applied research in close connection to the indusrial partners. All activities in CECOST aim at adressing societal and industrial issues and contribute to the development of a sustainable energy system and increased industrial competetiveness.

The research is organised in thematic clusters lead by a cluster leader. The cluster participants including representatives from the industrial partners meet frequently, at least once per semester to disseminate the progress within the cluster.

The current clusters within KC-CECOST are:

  • Optimum fuel flexibility: aiming at increased fuel and load flexibility in practical combustion applications. The cluster is lead by Dr Daniel Lörstad, Siemens Energy AB
  • Applied Diagnostics: Development of new diagnostic techniques for new applications and challenging measurement situations. Cluster leader Prof. Marcus Aldén, Lund University
  • Bioprocess modelling and validation: Biofuel combustion and model development. Cluster leader Prof. Xue-Song Bai, Lund University

The activities in the separate project "Metal-CECOST" are also gathered in a cluster:

  • Metal combustion: investigating the potential of metal combustion where metals can be used as an sustainable energy carrier. Cluster leader Prof. Marcus Aldén, Lund University
