Sample Guidelines

  • Review the complete sample and sectioning guidelines here
  • Sample and section quality is very important for good results
  • The FFPE blocks should have been stored for less than 10 years
  • Sections should be 5µm (4-7µm) thick and placed on SuperFrost Plus slides
  • It is important to avoid any scratches and folds in the sections
  • Red blood cells give high autofluorescence, avoid areas/sections with blood if possible
  • The sections should be mounted in the center of the slide and within the scan area of 36.2 mm long by 14.6 mm wide, shown here. Tissue outside of this area will be scraped off
  • Slides with FFPE sections should be used within 2 weeks of sectioning and should be stored at room temperature or at 4°C in a desiccator prior to processing
  • Slides with fresh-frozen sections can be stored at -80 for several weeks
