– Publicerad den 7 april 2011

International students like Lund. Almost 95 per cent of those surveyed in an international student barometer are happy in the city. In addition, they are pleased with the lecturers’ English and the quality of the teaching.

The results of the i-graduate international student barometer have just been released. Nearly 140 000 students from 16 countries answered a long list of questions about 203 different higher education institutions.

“We are pleased that so many students are happy in Lund and that many of our international students actively recommend Lund University to their friends”, says Richard Stenelo, who is in charge of international student recruitment.

Lund’s competitive advantages in the recruitment of international students include:

  • student social life
  • an environmentally friendly and safe city
  • good teaching and research
  • lecturers and staff who are good at English

The international students highlighted areas they felt could be improved:

  • more housing in they city of Lund
  • career services
  • time between applying and finding out if admitted (applied to all Swedish universities)

“It is good to hear these views so that we can see where we need to improve our routines”, says Richard Stenelo.

The survey was sent to all international students at Lund University, including exchange students, during late 2010. Close to 30% of students responded.

Housing guarantees have recently been introduced at Lund University for non-EU/EEA students (required to pay tuition fees).
