The Faculty of Engineering (LTH) holds two graduation ceremonies per year to honour our graduating students.
1 December, 2017
Mid-May to mid-June, 2018
Important information regarding the graduation ceremony
No invitations will be sent out to master's students automatically. Only students who have expressed their interest in participating will be invited. If you want to participate in the next graduation ceremony you need to make a notification of interest. N.B. Only sending the notification of interest does not entitle you to participate in the Graduation Ceremony. You will receive an invitation later given that you fulfill the following criteria:
- you have passed 82,5 credits or more (cut-off date in late March/mid-October)
- your Degree Project is registered in Ladok (cut-off date in late March/mid-October)
- you have not participated in the ceremony at a previous occasion.
Deadline for notification of interest is approximately six weeks before the ceremony. Send your notification of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org (NB Only for students in second-year international master's programmes). It should include your:
- personal number (YYMMDD-XXXX)
- official e-mail address at Lund University
The subject should be: Notification of interest Graduation Ceremony.
A reminder will be sent to all international master's students studying their second year.
Invitation and registration
After notification of interest we will check that you fulfill the criteria below. If you do, you will receive an invitation a couple of weeks later. Please note that you have to respond to the invitation. The invitation will provide you with a link and instructions on how to register. If you have not responded to the invitation before the deadline it will not be possible for you to attend the ceremony. The invitation will be sent to the e-mail address that is registered in LADOK.
At the Graduation Ceremony, the students receive a Diploma. This is not to be confused with the Degree Certificate, which is the formal document that you will use to prove that you have passed your degree. The Diploma is more ornamental and has no formal value.
If you are not able to attend the graduation ceremony but still wish to receive a Diploma you need to send a mail to email@example.com to inform us that you won't attend the ceremony but wish to receive the Diploma. Remember to provide the address you would like the Diploma sent to. LTH will not be able to print Diplomas subsequently.
The graduation ceremony will be held in the auditorium of the main university building in Lundagård. Approximately one hour before the start of the ceremony, a mandatory rehearsal is held for the participating students. It is very important that you show up on time for the rehearsal!
During the ceremony, your Diploma will be handed out by the Dean along with the Deputy Dean. The actual ceremony will last approximately 1 ½ hours and is bi-lingual, Swedish/English. After the presentation of the diplomas there will be speeches held by the Dean, the Deputy Dean, the president of the student union and an honorary guest-speaker. Song and music will be provided during the intermissions between the speeches.
The ceremony will be concluded with a social event in the atrium.
Business casual. If you feel unsure about what to wear, please check the video at the top of this page. Some international students choose to wear traditional festive clothes.
Due to limited space in the auditorium, the amount of guests is limited. Information about the number of guests you are allowed to invite can be found in the invitation.
The graduation ceremony will be videotaped and a copy of the film will be sent to all the graduates that received a diploma during the ceremony.
