Jiang Qian is currently designing vacuum cleaners for Electrolux, but it wasn’t too long ago that he studied Industrial Design at Lund University.
Today, in a ceremony at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, he will be named a ‘Global Swede’ by the Swedish Minister for Trade.
The Global Swede diploma ceremony honours foreign students who have studied at higher education institutions in Sweden and who have distinguished themselves in areas related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
"It is really nice to be awarded", says Jiang Qian who is from a city outside Shanghai in China. He came to Sweden to experience the cultural life abroad and to study. He chose Lund as his study destination because of the great design reputation and the fact that he got the Ingvard Kamprad scholarship. He is very happy with the programme.
"Yes, the education is fantastic at LTH. There are such amazing opportunities and the teachers are super nice!"
The Minister for Trade Mikael Damberg will be handing out the diplomas today and says;
"Global Swede is a way of promoting Swedish export. By acknowledging top international students, we make valuable connections that will benefit Swedish export long term."
