LTH students win Silver in International Student competition

This summer, what is sometimes referred to as the world's largest competition for engineering students is taking place: Formula Student. This competition involves building an energy-efficient and safe formula car as possible; putting the different engineering areas at test. The 33 students from LTH came in second in their category, and third out of the total 49 participating teams. Their car also received the prestigious design award for best construction.

The competition was divided into two categories: combustion engines and electric cars. The students from LTH participated with their custom build ethanol car. They came second in the category "endurance", and third in the category "efficiency".

With a total points of 856,49 they came third in the competition. The highest score for combustion cars was achieved by PT Milano, and TU Delft in the category of electric cars.

- Before the price ceremony, we were confident in our overall performance in the competition, but still uncertain of our placement and still wanted to keep our expectations low. Therefore, we were happily surprised when we got to run up to the podium four times to receive prices for design, efficiency, endurance and finally second place in the category of combustion cars. The competition consisted of both ups and downs and I am immensely proud over everyone in the team who fought all the way to the end and put their soul into this project over last year. Later this summer, an even bigger event will take place in Germany where the students from LTH will participate. Simultaneously, the students are developing an electrical car, which will be ready for next year's competition in Student Formula.
