Infrastructure of the month – February

At Lund University, we have excellent research infrastructure to support research in medicine, biology and biomedicine. Every month we highlight one special infrastructure, to increase the awareness of the available platforms.

The infrastructure of February is EpiHealth cohort study

EpiHealth cohort study is a national resource with data of 25,000 (2017) Swedish men and women between the ages of 45 and 75 years, continuously growing. It includes information about genes and life-style factors. It is an open-access resource accessible for all researchers.

  • Want to know more about chronical diseases and their relation to life-style factors, biochemical markers and genetic information?
  • Do you need access to a control group?
  • Need to know more about a specific gene?

The EpiHealth cohort study offer data from 25 000 individuals in the age between 45-75 containing:

  • physical tests like spirometry, ECG, cognition and biological sampling
  • information about the participants’ medical history and life-style from questionnaire
  • informed consent to contact participants for new studies like  including subjects with specific disorders or control groups for case-control studies

Department of Immunotechnology open day

The Department of Immunotechnology is to host an open day to show two tools that might be useful for other researchers of Lund University.

The first one is a iQue Plus Screener, a high throughput FACS instrument to analyze cells and particles. The second one is MASS-1 high throughput SPR instrument to analyze the interaction between molecules.

When: February 28, 2017
