Dean's blog: LTH against fact-resistance

"Today we see, hear and read a lot about fact-resistance, that is, the approach of not letting yourself be affected by information that goes against your own opinion. The clearest examples of this today are the campaigns before Brexit and the US presidential election. Regardless of our views on the issues, we can probably agree on the frequent occurrence of this phenomenon. Being found guilty of a lie, or at least an ambiguous approach to the truth, did not appear to be a problem. How did we get here?"

10th year of the LTH video advent calendar

It's time again for the LTH video advent calendar! For the tenth year running, LTH students have put together 24 short videos of science experiments, releasing a new episode on our website every day between 1-24 December.

This year the videos are being hosted by LTH students Ingrid Odlén, Hans-Christian Nilsson and Ina Rehnholm.

Tens of thousands of Swedish school children follow the LTH advent calendar every year.

Order your LU Christmas cards

 Lund University's Christmas cards are now available to order from Mediatryck.

The cards are sold in batches of 25 with envelopes. They are laminated and in A5 format. 25 cards cost SEK 175.

Welcome to LTH's Lucia celebrations!

Join us for a Lucia celebration on 13 December at 13:00-15:00, in Vattenhallen Science Center. We will serve Lucia fika with glögg, gingerbread and Christmas candy. You can also enjoy a traditional ”Luciatåg”.

For those of you who are interested in finding out how Christmas candy and food is transformed into energy in our cells, there will also be an opportunity to experience the exciting new exhibition "Our bowels – Food’s journey through the body". Space is limited, so pick up your ticket to the exhibition when you arrive. Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

When: 13 December between 13:00 - 15:00

WINGS workshop: A toolbox for increased productivity – from efficiency to effectiveness

In the workshop you will learn three productivity tools and apply them to your own work situation. The tools are easy to implement and have a large impact. The workshop has been much appreciated among researchers and have been given at Lund University, KTH The Royal Institute of Technology and University of California, Berkeley.

The workshop is open for all researchers (doctoral students, postdocs, associate professors, senior lecturers, professors etc.) but priority will be given to female researchers who have recently been awarded their PhDs or are in early stages of their academic career. Space is limited, and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The workshop is free, but no-shows will be charged a fee.

Designing blended courses/programmes: The ABC workshop

"Blended" teaching means supporting students' learning with the help of learning activities in both physical and digital environments. AHU has invited two teaching developments specialists from University College London on 6 and 7 February 2017, to lead a workshop in designing courses and programmes using a blended approach. The workshop is 90 minutes long, free of charge, and will be held in English.

When: 6 or 7 February 2017

Skissernas museum is opening again!

Skissernas Museum (the Museum of Artistic Process and Public Art) invites you to attend their Grand Opening on 28 and 29 January 2017.

The entire museum has undergone a complete transformation. The permanent exhibits have been cleaned, repaired and re-hung, and new selections  of sketches and models have been selected and installed. The museums most famous works by Matisse and Delaunay have already moved into the International Hall.

Entry is free during the Grand Opening weekend.

When: 28 January 2017 between 16-23, and 29 January 2017 between 12-17
Where: Skissernas museum, Finngatan 2, Lund


Changes to Lund bus routes

Many of Lund's buss routes will be rerouted as of 11 December on account of the works taking place in preparation for the new tramway line. Bus stops that will be affected include Allhelgonakyrkan, BMC, Ideon, LTH and Höjdpunkten.
