Dean's blog: Art tour of the Faculty of Engineering?
"Now all the students are back and the campus is fizzing with life. It feels great to get going again!
Over the summer, there was a debate in Sydsvenskan about the fact that John E Franzén’s magnificent work “Cadillac Eldorado”, which has graced the lobby of the V Building since the 1960s, is being moved to Moderna Museet. The move was justified by the fact that the painting, removed for storage during renovation work on the V Building, was valued at SEK 17 million, bringing this art treasure to the attention of many who might otherwise have remained unaware of it."

Infrastructure of the month – September
At Lund University we have excellent research infrastructure to support research in medicine, biology and biomedicine. Every month we highlight one special infrastructure, to increase the awareness of the available techniques.
The infrastructure of September is: the Cellomics Platform and the Plate Runner Platform.
These platforms offer quantitative, automated image analysis of cells. High Content Screening (HCS)/Analysis (HCA) is automated acquisition, visualization and analysis of fluorescence microscopic images. Using HCS/HCA, cells are characterized based on fluorescence intensity and pattern of fluorescence, e.g size, shape, subcellular localization and spots.
You can:
- Measure multiple parameters of information in the image
- Make multiple quantitative measurements per cell
- Have the capacity to screen multiple samples
We have the competence and available time to help you get more data out of your images.

Traffic safety workshop
Welcome to the annual ICTCT workshop, this year focusing on the topic of "How to assess traffic safety? - Adapting methods to future"
The workshop will mainly deal with the question how to assess traffic safety. According to the philosophy of ICTCT, the safety assessment should not only rely on accident data but actively utilise other non-accident indicators that reflect accident risk. Such methods are widely used in rail and air transport, while acceptance is still low among road safety professionals.
When: 20-21 October 2016
Where: V-building LTH, John Ericssons väg 1, Lund
Deadline for registration: 6 October
Workshop on flexible energy
Welcome to an Energy Workshop in Lund on the theme ”Flexible energy”
With the new climate agreement in Paris the transition towards an emissions free power system is clear and globally accepted. This transition has been ongoing for a while in Sweden, but with the new target for climate neutrality by 2045 and the current negotiations within the energy commission this development will gain stronger momentum. With a future power system based on mainly renewable and variable power supply, the demands on flexibility and integration both between sectors and within the power grid increases substantially.
This workshop will discuss solutions that are currently being developed within academia and business in order to meet this increasing demand on a flexible energy market beyond 2025.
When: 20 October 2016, 09:00-16:15
Where: Palaestra, Lundagård, Lund
Deadline for registration: 14 October
