Dean's blog: Honorary Doctors' visit
"Almost a year ago to the day, I asked the question “Where were you?” in my blog. That was after the talks given by last year’s Honorary Doctors, which were very interesting but sadly not as well attended as I’d hoped. It got me thinking about where we come together to meet and how we can create relevant meeting places for academic discussion.
I am convinced that it is important for us academics to meet more often, and in slighly unexpected groupings, but how do we go about doing it?"
New organisations in place
LTH's new research and education organisations launched on 1 May 2016. The aims of the reorganisation work has been to reduce territorial thinking and to increase clarity in the decision-making process.
Annika Mårtensson, Professor and Deputy Dean, has been responsible for developing the new education organisation, and Erik Swietlicki, Professor and Assistant Dean for Research, was responsible for developing the new structure for LTH’s research organisation.
The new education board will make decisions about principal and strategic issues, and consists of 5 representatives from the different programme areas. The new management structure of LTH’s research organisation consists of a research board and a research studies board.
LTH's Faculty Office receives environmental certificate
Ecological coffee, good recycling routines, LED lighting and mindful purchasing. Efforts made by LTHs Faculty Office to make more environmentally aware choices have resulted in an environmental certification, awarded by Lund University's Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ewa Wiberg on 25 May.
The Faculty Office at LTH has, since 2013, made concerted efforts within the area of environment and sustainability, and has now fulfilled the criteria for Lund University's enironment diploma, which is the university's way of encouraging enrivornmentally friendly practices. It is also meant to facilitate and help different parts of the university in their systematic work.
