AktuelLTH - newsletter for LTH staff
Submit content to AktuelLTH
AktuelLTH - the internal newsletter at the Faculty of Engineering LTH - comes out every second Thursday. If you have news, suggestions or ideas you would like to share with your colleagues, let us know by emailing AktuelLTH@kansli.lth.se. Content must be submitted by Tuesday to appear in the newsletter on Thursday.
Wherever possible, please submit content in both English and Swedish.
Bike in snow took first prize
A picture of a cyclist riding through a snowy LTH campus was awarded first prize in our Instragram competition. The picture was taken by Carla Fernández, PhD student at the Division of Water Resources Engineering. View all the entries (approx 100) here.

Dialogue meeting about Skåne's food strategy
The Skåne region's food strategy will be finalised during 2016. The aim is to strengthen Skåne's food production and to create jobs and market growth. If you are interested in taking part, register for the dialogue meeting at Lund University on 17 March. You will find the details on Region Skåne's website (in Swedish).
LUCRIS - what's in it for me?
Lund University is soon launching a new research information system - LUCRIS. LUCRIS will replace LUP (Lund University Publications) as the registration interface for scholarly publications. In addition, LUCRIS will contain other research information, such as information on researchers, research groups, projects or research-related activities within, for example, external engagement.
CATE-Pro kick-off
There will be a kick-off meeting for the CATE-Pro project on 7 April at 15:00, held in LU Open's facilities on Sölvegatan 18.
CATE-Pro is a three-year project aimed at companies interested in supplying advanced equipment to facilities such as ESS, MAX IV and CERN.

Time to apply for the industrial PhD programme
The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) is allocating SEK 30 million for a programme for Industrial Doctoral Students during 2016. The grant runs for four to five years and shall result in a doctorate (PhD). The PhD student must be employed at least 80% at a company and have two supervisors - one at the university and one at the company.
Deadline for applications is 23 August 2016. More information can be found on stratresearch.se
KVIST lunch seminar
The women's engineering and architecture network KVIST are hosting a lunch seminar for female architecture and engineering students between 11:00-13:00 on 22 March at Gustav Adolfs torg 10A. At the seminar, Åsa Jacobsson will talk about opportunities, challenges and pitfalls of the industry. Register by emailing kvist@pe.se

Cancer Crosslinks
Save the date! This year's Cancer Crosslinks will be held on 19 October at Medicon Village in Lund. The theme is immuno-oncology and personlised medicine.

Scholarships
As mentioned in the last issue of AktuelLTH, a lot of people write in and ask us to include information about their scholarships. Instead of including each individual scholarship in the newsletter, we would like to draw your attention to the university's central information about scholarships as well as the scholarship search service Research Professional. You can also sign up to receive the university's newsletter Research Funding News.
However, here are two quick exceptions:
- Tomorrow is the deadline for applications to the Hans Werthén foundation. Each year this foundation awards approximately 15 scholarships for one-year scientific projects at postdoc and PhD level, MBA or LL.M studies in a qualified environment abroad. - Deadline for applications to the Per-Eric and Ulla Schyberg foundation is 29 March at 15:00. The foundation is solely aimed at PhD students at Lund University. More information and application forms can be found on http://www.fysiografen.se/en/
Open house at University Guest House
University Guest House is hosting an open house on 17 March between 15:00-18:00. Welcome to Tunavägen 39A (former Sparta Hotel). At the open house you'll meet the people behind the university's international guest housing - Hotell University Guest House and LU Housing for guest researchers. There will be fika, and the opportunity to look around the facilities.
Postdoc in Italy

SANORD conference in Uppsala
SANORD (Southern African-Nordic Centre) is proud to announce that the next SANORD conference will take place 7-9 September 2016 in Uppsala, Sweden. SANORD is a partnership of higher education institutions from all the Nordic countries and southern Africa with the aim of promoting multilateral research cooperation on matters of importance to the development of both regions.

Influence the strategic plan
All instrested members of staff and students are invited to take part in a Vice-Chancellor seminar about Lund University's new strategic plan on 22 March 2016. The new strategic plan will take effect in 2017 and be valid for 10 years. It will become the University’s single most important policy document for the next decade. Take this opportunity to influence the plan - more information and registration on the LU staff pages.

New industry collaboration
To gain a greater insight into what the industry needs from us and our students, LTH and Lund University have started a collaboration with Tetra Pak called Industry meets Academy.

Torgny has been promoted!
Torgny Roxå has been promoted to senior lecturer in academic development within engineering education at the Centre for Educational Development (CEE). Congratulations Torgny! Watch a video of Torgny talking about developing a teaching culture through the practice of research.
MAX4ESSFUN
9 researchers from the faculties of Engineering, Science and Medicine at Lund University have been awarded grants from MAX4ESSFUN - a three-year project involving 27 different partners, aimed at increasing the regional potential to exploit the unique large-scale research facilities ESS and MAX IV in the future.
