Rydberg's formula

Minutes of a meeting of the Society for Physics and Mathematics held on November 5th 1888. This is the first publication of Rydberg's formula. The formula gives the energies (wave numbers) of the transitions in the hydrogen spectrum. The modern version of the formula with the Rydberg constant R looks like the formula to the right.
