Swedish municipalities yearly put large sums into removing beaches of pliers that have washed ashore. Pliers is the generic name for various kinds of algae and seaweed, which we humans throughout history have used as: fertilizer, animal feeding, wall insulation, roofing material, as food-ingredient and in present time researches at Phoscad in Trelleborg are developing techniques to use pliers for biogas-production. With this simple tool, people can pick up and bring home pliers and use it as nourishment for their plants instead of buying chemical fertilizers.
