Swedish plums ripens between August and October. Plums can´t be stored for long without going bad, so in order to enjoy Swedish plums during the rest of the year you need to preserve them. Traditionally this is done by making jam, marmalade, or pickling the plums. When making large batches for preservation you remove the pits of the plums: a task that demands an efficient process. By piercing through the fruit in one short move the plum pitter makes the pit exit on the opposite side.
