Computer Science and Engineering

3 years, 180 hp (ECTS Credits)

Computer science deals with computer systems, both software and hardware, and their interaction with the environment in which these systems will operate. Business and industry are looking for engineers with a broad-based knowledge of hard and software systems and who have also mastered the links between these two areas, and even to their operative environments.

This programme has been developed in collaboration with the computer and electronics industry in north-western Skåne, the southernmost region of Sweden, and is a broad programme offering many applications. This means that graduates will have the knowledge and skills required to work in all areas of industrial computing and electronic systems.

The aim of the programme is to teach students about the building blocks making up a computer, both software and hardware, as well as the interfaces between systems.

The programme

The most important subjects in the programme are:

  • Digital and computer engineering, which deal with the principles of how computers work, are built and work together. Programming of single-chip processors is included.
  • Programming in C, Java, VHDL, C++ and assembler.
  • Mathematics, which constitutes a large part of the theoretical basis of the programme.
  • Systems engineering, which deals with various kinds of computer systems and user interfaces.
  • Other, non-technical, subjects such as verbal and written communication, the working environment, economics and law.

Students have contact with a sponsoring company throughout the programme, where they carry out projects and deepen their interests at advanced level. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, and may continue their studies in computer engineering at LTH in Lund.
