Civil Engineering specializing in Road and Traffic Technology

3 years, 180 hp (ECTS Credits)

There is a steadily increasing need for both transport and traffic planning, and the demands made on them grow. A smoothly functioning infrastructure is vital to the development of a sustainable society. To advance developments there is a need for road and traffic engineers who are highly qualified in public, social and engineering fields.

The programme in Civil Engineering specialising in Road Design and Traffic aims to provide graduates who can:

- participate in the development of roads and highways, from the formulation of
ideas, drawings, planning, production planning and production, to operation
  and management
- apply their skills in many environmental, aesthetic, ethical, financial and social
  situations
- bridge the gap between highway engineering and traditionally non-
engineering areas such as urban planning, road safety and the environment

The programme

This programme is unique in Sweden, and is characterised by its broad scope including traditionally non-technical areas, a holistic engineering approach and strong industrial connections, all of which mean that graduates are ready to work as operational civil engineers.

Workplace training is a practical component of some courses in the first and second years. The intention is to connect courses and the area of specialisation to engineering companies and contractors, authorities and management organisations in road and highway planning and construction.

A workplace course, projects and mentors from industry are other important components of the programme.
