Admission requirements
The formal requirement for admission as a doctoral student to the Faculty of Engineering LTH at Lund University, is Master's degree. You must have obtained your degree from a recognised university, and must have completed an independent project of at least 20 weeks' duration.
Applications
Contact the department at which you wish to apply for a doctoral studentship and they will send you an application form. Your application must contain a statement explaining your reasons for wanting to enter into research, copies of certificates and a copy of your Master's dissertation. All documents must be attested. For students from abroad, it is especially important that the grading system be explained, and that the level of courses taken be defined.
Acceptance to doctoral studentship is based on a judgement of the student's ability to perform well in doctoral studies. Much importance is placed on the quality of the Master's dissertation. In some areas, women are underrepresented and are therefore especially encouraged to apply for doctoral studentships.
Admission
Admissions to doctoral studies are not handled centrally at the Faculty of Engineering LTH. Each department is responsible for its own admissions, and the procedure may vary from one department to another. Doctoral students can only be admitted to a department if adequate facilities are available regarding supervisory capacity and study conditions in general.
