I came to Lund for the master program of Water Resources at 2007, and the two-year study is really an exciting experience. The master program is well structured and includes almost every aspect of water resource. We started with the course IWRM (Integrated Water Resource Management), and it was quite interesting to talk about water management with classmates from Africa, Asia, America and Europe. Both the courses of Urban Water and Ground Water & Environment span two study periods, but they were never dull. We had field trip, laboratory experiment and computer model practice. Besides, the group work which is included in almost every course is a nice way of improving skill of conflict managing and team working. Except for regular compulsory courses, there are also several special subjects for your own taste. I took one advanced project on modeling of waste water treatment plant with Professor Jansen, and the tough but interesting experience did improve the capacity of problem solving a lot.
I am now working at Point Carbon, a Norwegian energy consulting company. The job is about developing HBV model for hydropower market. HBV is a typical rainfall runoff model, and you will have a chance to know it if you join Rolf’s course Rural Water. I love my job and enjoy the Nordic life here.
Lund is an amazing small town with students from all over the world, so you’ll never have problem of making friends here, but you may have problem of finding an ideal accommodation, however, don’t worry, people here are incredibly nice and helpful.
