Alis experience of WaterLU

I attended the international Water Resources Master’s Program at Lund University in August 2005. According to my personal experience, adoption of an interdisciplinary approach to teaching the water resources engineering courses at LTH significantly enhances the students’ education and leads to practical understanding of the water resources issues under consideration.  In Lund, apart from gaining in-depth insight into various aspects of water resources and expanding my technical knowledge about fundamentals of water resources modeling, I developed my team working and problem solving skills through interaction with students from different academic and cultural backgrounds. I believe the cordial atmosphere of LTH makes all international students feel at home and fosters constructive teacher-student relationship, enabling the students to benefit from the teachers’ extensive experience in diverse research areas of Water Resources Engineering and Management.

Since summer of 2007 I have been working for Rahab Consulting Engineering Co., Tehran, Iran. My work involves hydrologic analysis and river system modeling in relation to road and bridge construction projects. Generally, in our projects, hydrologic study of urban and rural basins in which roads/highways are built serves as a quantitative platform for hydraulic design and, subsequently, structural design practices, and thus comprises a major part of the projects. I am indeed thrilled to be able to apply the knowledge that I learned at LTH in actual Civil Engineering and Water Resources Engineering projects and recommend those who are planning to undertake a Master’s in Water Resources Engineering to make LTH their number one choice.

All the best,

Ali Mirchi

Water Resources Graduate, Entry 2005
