Admission as a special student on courses offered by departments at the Faculty of Engineering can be allowed for applicants who aim to include their special studies in a forthcoming degree at another faculty or another higher education institution.
A person is admissible as a special student if he or she:
- Has ongoing studies at another faculty within Lund University
- Has ongoing studies at another Swedish higher education institution
- Is a scholarship holder from a university with which there is no exchange agreement (a scholarship holder from a university with which there IS an exchange agreement will be admitted as an exchange student).
Admission of special students is only allowed if educational resources are sufficient and to a limited extent, usually for no more than 30 credits. Admission as a special student on courses included in the first year of a degree programme at the Faculty of Engineering is only allowed in exceptional cases.
You must prove that you meet the general and specific entry requirements for admission to the study programme of which the course is a part. The specific prior knowledge required for the individual course must also be documented. Furthermore, you are required to have additional knowledge equivalent to that expected of the other students on the course within the study programme.
You must attach a statement from the programme coordinator/equivalent at the higher education institution where you plan to complete your degree, certifying that the special studies course will count towards your forthcoming degree.
