The academic year at the Faculty of Engineering is divided into two semesters of approximately 20 weeks each. Each semester is divided into two study periods. The study periods consist of seven weeks of lectures, exercises and seminars and one week of examinations at the end of each study period prior to the start of the next study period. Sometimes a course may run over two study periods and be followed by an examination at the end of the course. The autumn semester starts in the beginning of September and ends around the second week in January (periods 1 and 2). The spring semester starts around the second week of January and ends during the first week of June (periods 3 and 4).
Please note that in case you follow courses at another faculty (for example Swedish courses), those may not follow the LTH academic year.
