Today, Tuesday 16 August is Arrival Day at Lund University. Some 1 500 students from all over the world will arrive in Lund for academic studies lasting up to three years. At the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) about 390 international students are expected to arrive.
“We are very happy that so many international students have chosen Lund University”, say Per Eriksson, Vice-Chancellor of Lund University, and Mats Helmfrid, Chair of the City Executive Board in Lund.
The Arrival Day reception is open between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm. Students arriving at Copenhagen Airport or Lund Central Station will be met by international student mentors who will guide them to the AF building (AF-borgen) where the students will be “checked in”, housing contracts will be signed and tickets to different student events will be on sale. The international students will then be taken to their new student accommodation to get acquainted with their surroundings. During Arrival Day some 80 student mentors will assist the new students. At the AF building, more the 30 university employees will be on hand to help the new students.
Over 84 different nationalities are due to arrive in Lund today. Among exchange students the largest groups arrive from Germany, France, the US, Spain and the UK. The countries with the highest number of international students admitted for a Master’s or Bachelor’s programme are Germany, the UK, the US and China.
