The national electricity grid is not only an important infrastructure as such, it is also closely related to other forms of infrastructure used for communication, heat, water and sanitation. With time, these relations have become stronger, and many services in society are dependent on reliable energy supply. This becomes especially evident when we have serious power cuts, which may lead to substantial strain on society.
Researchers at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation are studying the mutual dependence between the infrastructures for electricity, telecommunication and water supply. The research is being carried out within the framework of the Lund University Centre for Risk Analysis and Management (LUCRAM), in close collaboration with the Swedish Emergency Management Agency (Krisberedskapsmyndigheten).
