In terms of a consumer product, energy is invisible. Energy needs are closely related to other consumer needs. People need warm, light houses, food, warm water to wash in and clean with, as well as electricity to be able to watch TV, listen to music or use their computer. Companies with full order books will need to increase their production, and thus their energy needs.
The use of energy is only noticeable when the bill arrives. The aim of behaviour studies is to analyse factors that affect people’s decisions and actions regarding energy use and consumer adaptation, i.e. the design of technical equipment in relation to the consumer. This research is being carried out in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, Lund University.
